INJECTABLE FILLERS
The visible signs of facial aging occur over time as a result of many factors including sun exposure, heredity and life style.  One of the earliest signs of aging is a loss of facial fullness and the development of expression lines – wrinkles that appear as a result of the repeated movement of facial muscles.  Softening of these facial lines and creases, and the restoration of volume and fullness in the face can often be achieved non-surgically through treatment with injectable fillers.

Injectable fillers can plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, and, in some cases improve the appearance of recessed scars. The result is a smoother, fuller and more youthful facial appearance.  Injectable fillers are substances that enhance the fullness of soft tissues, primarily in the face. Some fillers are based on natural substances derived from the human body, others are synthetic forms of these substances, and some may contain synthetic, biocompatible compounds. Injection therapy may also be performed using one’s own fat cells. The differences among facial fillers are not only in their composition, but also in their preferred application and the duration of their results.  Both fat and Restylane are examples of injectable fillers.

JUVEDERM
Aging produces a natural loss of volume in the skin and causes wrinkles and folds to form. Juvederm provides long lasting, up to one year correction of facial rhytides such as smile lines. It is a hyaluronic acid based filler that binds with water to correct facial folds and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a natural complex sugar found in all living organisms and creates volume and elasticity in the skin. It produces a smooth and natural look.  Juvederm can be injected with a topical anesthetic and requires ice application post treatment. Injection takes about fifteen minutes and the results are immediate. Bruising is possible as is slight swelling for several hours after treatment.  Improvement can last for one year. There is not a problem with allergic reactions. Juvederm has also been tested on all skin types and has demonstrated no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring for individuals with darker skin pigmentation.

RESTYLANE
Restylane- A safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. It is well suited to plump thin lips and fill facial creases such as nasolabial folds. It may also be appropriate for some surface wrinkles and concave scars. The fullness achieved from Restylane treatment may last six months or longer.

Restylane requires no pre-testing, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection
site. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

FAT AUGMENTATION
Fat Augmentation-Injection of fat cells harvested from your own body can enhance facial fullness, fill deep creases and build up shallow contours. After the fat cells are harvested, injection takes only a few moments per site. An improved appearance is visible almost immediately, although minor swelling or bruising may appear at the injection site and may last as long as a few weeks. These effects can be alleviated with topical icing. The fullness achieved with autologous fat injection lasts two years or more in some cases.

Human fat, harvested from your own body can be re-injected to enhance facial fullness, fill deep creases and to build up shallow contours. Fat injection is a more extensive procedure than other injectable fillers because it uses liposuction techniques to extract the fat prior to injection. Treatment results last up to two years or more in some cases.

Fat augmentation can be combined with other facial plastic surgery procedures, including face lift (meloplasty) or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or independently.
